Noble Drilling approached Joulon with a request for a Irata Rope Access rig-building team to undertake the following tasks onboard the Noble Drillship “Valiant”
• Crown Assembly Removal
• Removal and re-installation of 16 Turndown Sheave
• NOV knuckle Boom Crane Ram change out
CHALLENGES
Completing the tasks within a specific time slot to meet client drilling programme
Completing complex rigging operations in very congested areas of the asset
Work-scope 1 Crown Removal
- Create Lift Plans
- Install certified rigging equipment to undertake the workscope activities
- De-reeve of Drill Line and Travelling Block Removal
- Fast Line & Dead Line Removal
- Crown Block Assembly removal
- Assist Rig Crew with Sheave Change-out
- Re-Installation of Crown Cluster Assembly, Fast Line and Deadline
- Assist Drill Crew with Re-Installation of Travelling Block and Re-Reeve drill line
- Carry out Derrick DROPS sweep post installation
Work-scope 2 Turn-down Sheaves
- Create Lift Plans
- Install Certified Rigging Equipment to undertake the work-scope activities
- Complete the removal of any clashes adjacent to the Sheave assembly
- Removal of the turndown Sheave Fxings & Pin Cross-haul & Lower Sheave to a safe lay down area
- Remove Bearing Plate, Clean & Inspect Bearings
- Reinstall Sheave into Sheave Housing
- Reinstall Sheave Pin into Sheave Bore and Housing Bore by means of Jacking
- Carry out DROPS sweep post installation
Work-scope 3 KBC Change out
- Create Lift Plans & Rope Access Method Statements
- Install certified rigging equipment to undertake the work-scope activities
- Removal of NOV Knuckle Boom Crane Rams
- Reinstatement of NOV Knuckle Boom Crane Rams
- Carry out DROPS sweep post installation
